Surely it is the implementation that is to blame, how a room full of ref's consider not giving that penalty to be a 'clear and obvious mistake' is beyond me.
I don't buy all the Lawrenson shite though, can't blame VAR as a concept any more than you can blame the concept of red cards when somebody gets given one incorrectly

Drogba and Zabaleta saying they're big fans of VAR but there have been several occasions now where it hasn't worked. That surely can't surprise people, anyone who watches rugby or NFL knows that "things look different slowed down and from different angles." or that sometimes you have to argue whether the rules are correctly written even when officials correctly apply them. It doesn't get rid of controversy, it may generally reduce it but it might also simply change the nature of it.

Agree, that decision was beyond a joke. No matter how many times you view that no professional referee can call that a deliberate handball.
