The rumour won't go away because it's a self-defining rumour.

Site A claims it's on the cards; Site B then claims it's happening because they lifted it from Site A without accreditation. Site C then prints it as fact, citing "numerous sources" ( ie read it on site A and B ). Allegedly credible media outlets then run with it due it being on the internet, not wanting to lose traction to said sites, whilst ignoring the fact the rumour started on social media / blog started by a 12 year old...

We don't know if it's true, don't know if it's false. We'll only know if he signs for us... which tbh is how I like it.
