Thread: Fair play to England. Flight home midweek

Fair play to England. Flight home midweek

It’s fair to say they have stayed in Russia longer than we expected.
    A quirk of the fixtures.
With their round of 16 the last game to kick off on Tuesday night this turns out to be their longest stay in a major competition away from home ever. 😂

As a pedant, I also take issue with the above.

You could be about 10 days premature mate. That half of the draw is now wide open. As much as I hate to say it a final is now a possibility. I'm sticking with France to win the whole thing.

FFS every tw@t and his dog across the bridge seem to believe after they lost to Belgium they've got the easiest route to the Final and YES "it's coming home"

    C'mon Colombia

Even one of the commentators on the Croatia - Denmark game(was it Neville?) said England have a great chance of beating anybody in their half...
And we shouldn't be afraid to say so - it's not arrogance"

    Oh, really?

They're going to win it without playing anyone half decent in the knockouts

I don’t think saying they have a chance of beating anyone is arrogant is it? They do have a chance, Russia showed today everyone remaining in the competition had a chance of beating anyone.

England should be favourites going into every game now up until the final. Croatia have some excellent players but overall the England squad is stronger

There's a growing sense of dread that England will reach the final. They'll overtake Croatia as fave's from that side of the draw if they beat Colombia.

Bit of a generalisation, the only english people I've found to be arrogant are the ones I've met.

I work with with about 900 English people and all my neighbours are English - and the interactions I have with them seem to be vastly different to some of the posters on here who think that everyone living east of a certain line on a map are arrogant and convinced that their country will win the World Cup.

I know weird isn’t it, no one I know thinks they’re going to win it. Happy win the side of the draw and to still be in it but not that they’re going to win it.

Low expectation is the way to go whether you be a fan of England, Russia or Cardiff City...

ANYONE on that side of the draw has a chance of beating anyone else. It's an absolute dream half, and it's the chance of a lifetime for every nation in it to get to the final, and then who knows.

Also, to echo the statements above, I live in Leeds and exactly 0 people who follow football think they'll win it.
