    One for Naturalists/Zoologists. Where are all :---------

    Where are all the Jaspers this year ??????

    Is the heat killing 'um off, ain't seen one for ages.

    Same here normally loads land on my pond to get water for the nest none so far this month.

    Suspect the cold spring killed a lot of wasps off. Amounts do vary greatly year on year. Don't worry BT, you will be fighting them off your ice cream before long!

    Ps do put a bowl or something similar of water in the garden for the birds. They are struggling through lack of water.

    Excellent. My pond is a godsend to them at this time of year. Been a bit worried the blackbird will fall in and drown though!

    I’ve got two bird baths in my garden the birds love them the only trouble it’s a full time job keeping them full due to it being so hot

    Put some food out too. The ground's like concrete, they can't get at worms and stuff.

    I saw a butterfly in Ely road yesterday, same thing, first one this year. But what startled me was it was like a cabbage white but it was pale purple.

    does anyone know if it was a different strain or just a cabbage white that had just ate something coloured? I don't know how that works.

    There are a few "blue" butterflies that would fit this description.
