Thread: Liam Feeney

    Liam Feeney

Just watched the preseason video with Warnock, and Feeney is there. He’s probably just training with us but stranger things have happened!

Perhaps Warnock likes to have old friendly heads around , helping the young lads, as they do need help , or he's out of contract ?

No worries, just getting fit with us.You gotta train while you looking for a club and a decent pre season and a good word from Warnock will probably help him find a club.

Always put a shift in? What for 5-10 minutes as a sub?

He’s nowhere near good enough for the level we are playing at now.

Neil Warnock has said he might still give Greg Halford a contract. so why not Feeney?

Would be crazy to do either, but he likes to have people around him he trusts and they both clearly get along with the rest of the squad, so why not let them train with them.

It speaks volumes for Warnock as a man manager that players want to do this and that he welcomed them back.

They played their part in what was probably the best season of most of our lifetimes- so why not ?

If Feeney's wages were nominal for this level, then I'd be happy for him to stay. He's unlikely to start but did ok for us from the bench a few times last season - if we could get an assist out if him from low wages, then he'd be worth it . He is presumably a good influence to be allowed to stay and train.

Good enough for a hint at a starting place? Hell, no, but he did more for us than Wildschut and Kadeem Harris last season.

Whatever we think about Feeney's abilities (he clearly fitted in well with the team/squad) the main problem with what you're suggesting is the squad size and need to get it down to 25. The club website currently lists 29 first team players (excluding the youngsters like Mark Harris and Cameron Coxe who were previously shown there; excluding Feeney and Halford who are training with the squad; and excluding Grujic and any other expected new signings).

It's all about squads in the PL. If the squad is full it's a moot point but if we have spaces it's better to fill them rather than run light
