I can remember a night out during the early nineties when Phil Stant tagged along with us, we ended up in the casino on St Mary Street, and all Stanty did was eat all of the complimentary sandwiches and bum Cigarettes, that was that. Bumped into Nick Richardson in Llanishen Villiage, he was playing for Wrexham at the time and they were staying in one of the hotels at the top of Fidlas rd (both gone) He was standing outside the co op, waiting for a team mate, while I was having a chat with him, out walked Gary Bennett (Wrexham Striker) He took some stick of us, but was really nice and invited me for a pint in the Church Inn. Last Summer while on Holiday in Majorca, I heard a Cardiff Accent, looked up and it was Gilo pushing a pram and what I can only presume was his daughter hurrying him along. I didn't get involved in that one. Fascinating stuff!
I know that this thread is probably going to involve pubs, bars and alcohol, but I really hope that some of you have some surreal stories to tell. My mate reckons that Jamie Vardy accidently pissed on his shoes at Strensham Services, but I don't believe him.

Bumped into HRK and Chris Gunter and the rest of the Reading team at Heathrow ~ not long after Wales had beaten Belgium in the Euro qualifiers. They were on the same flight as my school party. HRK said the national anthem sung during the second half gave him goosebumps!

Used to see Gilo in the Beverly from time to time.
I think it would have been the early eighties, on holiday in Menorca with the missus and kids. My lad was 6 or 7 and obviously we kicked a ball about when we could find space. After a while we were joined by 2 guys - one tall, blonde the other shorter but nippy; it was obvious they knew what they were doing - they were there with their families too and were really friendly. The families were soon meeting most evenings and for a beach kick-about by day. In soccer terms it was clear they had the all the skills but I'd played Welsh League for a couple of seasons in my youth and wasn't disgraced. Took a day or so to realise we were in company with Alan Birchenall and Steve Kember who, if I recall correctly, were with Leicester at the time. Top that, boys
Just to put the record straight before you all start - checked their playing records and they both left Leicester in 77 and 78. Jan Molby tried to hit me, then slammed a door in my face ripping a huge chunk of plaster off the wall. I opened the door and handed it to the fat bell-end and told him he would have to pay for it. He went wild with rage and slammed the door shut again before coming back out and offering to take on a load of us. He was very angry and a bit of a grump!

I bumped into Craig Middleton in an Edinburgh cinema foyer during the pre-season tour of 99. I'm sure I've mentioned it before but it's obviously a gripping tale so it bears repeating. He was polite but I felt like I was intruding and I vowed never to approach another player again.

Gilo's a mate of mine. His daughter invited me to her 18th birthday party at his house. Midway through the evening, me and Gilo spent about half an hour hiding in his garage with a torch and six bottles of Stella looking through all of his old football memorabilia (his missus won't have it in the house). She found us eventually and ordered us back inside.
I once spent an evening in my local with Dave Bennett, Roger Gibbins and Phil Dwyer. That was pretty surreal.
One afternoon in 2003, I was in the city centre buying a pair of boots for my girlfriend, whose birthday was coming up. We'd visited several shops, she'd tried on god knows how many pairs and I was bored stiff. A fella came in and sat next to me in one of the shoe shops and his missus started trying on pairs of boots. I said to him: "I'd get comfortable if I were you, mate. You may be here some time."
He laughed and said: "I can see from your badge you're a City fan. Do you get down there often?"
"Yeah," I replied. "I'm a season ticket holder. Never miss a home game. How about you? Do you get down there much?"

talking about Phil Dwyer, he once arrested me, funny thing was a year or 2 previously i had taken his daughter out on a few dates, during the interview, i asked him how she was, it didnt go down wellbut i genuinely wondered how she was
Sat next to Phil Dwyer and Gareth Abraham a few times in the posh seats, both lovely.. Phil might have been a bit pissed.. bumped into toshack in spain during the re-brand furore, he didn't give a shit about it. Known Earnshaw since he was a kid - always been a top man. Had a conversation with Caulker just after he signed, he's a twat. Lee Jarman shagged my ex so he can **** off. Once had Junichi Inamoto around my house, he was polite. Paul Wimbleton was very rude and unnecessarily offish to me once as a child.
Bumped into Bobby Brown in Bookers Cash and Carry. He was landlord of the Rising Sunday just outside Haverforwest at the time. Had a great chat and I reminded him of the time before a Millwall game when he had advised me not to show my colours.
Used to play football in the street with Leyton Maxwell in the early 2000's when I was 7 or 8. Nice enough guy, took a shirt of mine in to get signed as well.
Here's another one I'd not remembered. As a kid I worked in City Hall and some of the lads there decided to get a side together and play friendlies against other 'civil servants' etc. For some reason they named the team Pumble Villa! Anyway this went on for some months before they decided to start proper training - at Glyn Derw High School gym. I think he must have been a neighbour of one of the boys but before too long Don Murray was turning up once a week to take training and to be fair he never missed for the remainder of the season. Top, top bloke. Afterwards we'd end up in a pub near Ely roundabout; was it called Ty Pwll Coch or something similar? All a long time ago; must have been the late sixties / early seventies - that's 50 years ago!
He occasionally drank in a pub I used and no one else would partner him - - for the reason already stated !!!!! lol
Played football on Lavernock beach with John Toshack and Terry Yorath when both were apprentices. Yorath was attached to Leeds at the time. Also got caught out first ball by John Toshack in a schools cricket match. Played squash against Derek Showers (Remember him). After 5 minutes he went bright red and in all honesty was as bad at squash as he was at football. Also played squash regularly with Brian Clark - top bloke who is sadly missed.
