What have the jail sentences got to do with it? All their possessions should be forfeit. They broke into people homes and stole stuff that had cost hard work and money. They should be left with nothing and the same applies to every burglar robber and thief!

Perhaps the nominal £1 was because they have feck all.

What's with the bolshy reply? local rep??? It wasn't mewho began the thread bemoaning the triviality of the amount. N ow you try to get at me?
You're a cock.. You think they should be let off with a slapped wrist?
If the full range of sentencing was used some of these assholes might think twice before the do this kind of thing

When crims are ordered to repay a nominal £1 from their criminal profit it's because the prosecution is satisfied they have spent the swag and are unable to identify assets they own of any value which can be seized and sold. The five people in this case owned one item between them worth nabbing valued at £2K (possibly a car). That's the weakness of the Proceeds of Crime Act, it incentivises spending of profits made from acquisitive crimes.

Jeez, aren't you the sensitive type.

They didn't get a slapped wrist, they were sentenced to prison. What else do you want?

You should read beyond the headline

    Bolshie? What are you, 80?

Bloody hell! I've stirred a hornets's nest here.
Yes, I noticed the prison sentences - they'll probably be out in half their time, and I bet they'll miraculously have more than £1 of assets when they do.

BTW - WTF has Australia got to do with it?
