Thread: Is this article correct about loans?

Is this article correct about loans?

I thought that the 31st August loan window was open to FL teams to loan players IN/OUT, whilst EPL teams could only loan players OUT to FL or any country where the window is still open.

This WOL article http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/f...e-day-14995009 says, 'Of course, Warnock will also still be able to delve into the loan market beyond this week's transfer deadline. He will have until August 31 to complete any additional temporary deals to supplement his squad for the Premier League'.

    Is this true?

I thought the same as you - my understanding was that Premier League sides couldn't conduct any incoming business after 9 August except for, perhaps, signing out of contract players or things like emergency loans for keepers.

No, Premier League squads are finalised on Thursday. Football League clubs can get loans in until August 31st.

I must say it is very odd for WOL to get basic facts wrong.

The use of the words "of course" only makes the error seem worse.

We can let players go out on loan until 31st. August but after 9th. August we cannot get anyone in. The thing I am not sure about is if we can bring in free's, I do not think we can but perhaps someone here knows

If by 'free' you mean unattached players, then the answer is yes.

Perhaps clubs are still able to loan players in, but not add them into the 25-man PL squad until January? I.e. they would be eligible for league cup?
Whatever the situation, it's squeaky bum time!

No, we can't register anyone after the 9th. Also, why in God's name would you loan a player the League cup!

I thought I heard Sky Sports say this morning that whilst the transfer window in England closes on August 9th, clubs can still sign players on loan until the 31st.

Football League clubs can. We can't.

I prefer the early window for us but for clubs like man United the benefit of concluding your deals before thursday has to be offset by other leagues windows being open to the 31st.

Will be rumours of pogba going beyond when they would be able to replace him. For them in that situation the answer to Barcelona would probably be no but other clubs may not be able to turn down fees offered by foreign clubs.

It was the clubs themselves who voted for the change.

This is why I was surprised it was agreed. I wasn't really anticipating impacting us at the time .

    Glad it has been though.
