Welsh-qualified Alfie Jones made his senior football debut for St Mirren yesterday (on loan from Southampton) and shored up the defence to only concede one more goal against Aberdeen. Chris Mepham may be ahead in the queue but this is one to keep an eye on.

Meanwhile, Mepham has been superb for Brentford. He is looking very likely to start games over the next couple of campaigns, probably instead of Williams.
