Thread: Minimum wage

    Minimum wage

Could you survive on minimum wage?
Survive might be a bit strong, but how would it affect your outgoings / incomings if you and your partner were on minimum wage?
I'm on minimum wage (cringe) and I work as a HGV driver (skilled work?)
I'm lucky enough to be able to work 8-10 hours a week overtime (lucky I hear you say )
If I don't work over 48 hours, I take home less than £350.
I'm up in the valleys so my rent/mortgage isn't that high - £400 per month.

I earn quite a bit less than you but only do 23 hours a week. I’m thinking of asking for a further reduction to around 17 hours.

I’d opt for more free time over money everytime.

Depends how expensive your hobbies/leisure activities are though I suppose.
