Thread: Long ball?

    Long ball?

We have been labelled a long ball team who hoof the ball at every opportunity, personally I haven't seen much evidence of that. However yesterday when we did get hold of the ball we attempted to find Reid who was marked by two players. We'll in that instance we needed to be a long ball team, a high long ball for reid to run on to could have borne some fruit.

We didn’t have much of this ball and when we did we just got it forward as quickly as possible to relieve the pressure.

    Re: Long ball?

It was for large parts attack v defence with us just looking to survive.

We got where we are being fairly direct with a focal point up top who at least kept the defence and holding midfielder honest. We've come away from that style and I'm not sure why.

If the last two games have shown us anything it is that given enough possession all the better sides will inevitably carve us open. We need to give them at least something to worry about at the other end. For large parts at Chelsea and for most of the game yesterday teams were virtually getting to the final third unopposed and you just can't let that happen in this league.
