Re: CARDIFF CITY POPPY BADGES NOW AVAILABLE

Am I the only person who finds these a bit tasteless. Remember the fallen and support a football team at the same time!

Why not just wear a normal poppy?

Maybe it's a different way of getting more funds for The Royal British Legion to help with all the work they do for ex servicemen.

"This is only a thought though

Fair enough it earns more money but it still seems very classless. The politicalisation and commercialisation of the poppy is all very weird.

This is exactly what the people they represented didn’t want. It was supposed to be a simple, quiet, tasteful gesture to remember those who died in service.

The fact you can now get bejewelled and shiny ones to me is the antithesis of what they were supposed to stand for.

Never forget and support west ham at the same time!

    Tacky

Re: CARDIFF CITY POPPY BADGES NOW AVAILABLE

At least all the money appears to go to charity which is rare for poppy “spin offs”

I agree. And the Asian dragon just makes it worse. It makes it seem like the club is glomming on to something.

I think they’ve been done for all clubs bar Celtic, don’t think it’s a Cardiff only made thing.

They are being sold on the official site shop the Poppy Shop for the Royal British Legion. All proceeds go to the Royal British Legion.

Fair enough. Still tacky though in my opinion. I'd rather just pay more for a poppy.

    Lord Ninian fell in battle
    2 October 1915, Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
Therefore I find these badges a fitting tribute.
I always leave a poppy every year on my Grandfather's grave.. He lost a leg in WW1. He died a young man I never met him.
This year I will leave one of these badges on his grave.

    Wonderful gesture

The opening of the "Field of Remembrance" is at Cardiff Castle on Wednesday 7th November. The official opening is at 10.40am, where there will be a 2 minute silence.
