As I said, yesterday, City can defend in numbers but not when the game is stretched. We went gung-ho immediately after the equaliser, and lost all shape.

Another point. Camarasa and Murphy delivered top class free kicks into the Burnley penalty area. We contrived to mess up every single one. Our decision not to spend [or get on loan] a decent striker or two could scupper what tiny chance of survival we had..

Things aren't going right for us at the moment, and it was inevitable that Burnley would sneak a couple of "comedy" goals to win the game.

We've scored a couple of goals from set pieces this season, but, again, this is an area where those trying to get on the end of free kicks, corners and throw ins are not performing to last season's standards. Yes, you're less likely to get the sort of lapses of concentration from defenders in this division when defending set pieces that you see in the Championship, but Morrison wasted chances at Bournemouth and Huddersfield that he would have put away in his sleep last season - especially the latter one and how much different our season might have looked if he had put that chance away.

    Agreed.

Dare I mention it again, but earlier in the season, Ian Wright on MOTD2 pointed out that we were looking to find players in the box with crosses rather than putting the balls into dangerous areas and relying on our forward players to make clever runs to get on the end of them. Looking back against Burnley, we did put some dangerous balls into the box but our forward players were so static, just waiting for the ball to get to them, that it's easy at this level to defend against.

Arguably the best player we have at timing his runs in the box unnoticed and getting on the end of things is someone who was signed as a right back. Zohore has undoubted ability and his pace and strength are his biggest assets, but he's not particularly a forward who gets on the end of crosses. This season is undoubtedly passing him by as well, sadly. Ward is probably better inside the box but maybe lacks a bit of height. Reid could play up front but needs someone up there to act as a battering ram.

Last season Hoilett and Mendez-Laing scored quite a few coming in from wide areas, but Hoilett has been disappointing so far.

It's a conundrum with no great options. I also think that we sometimes try a bit too hard to get the first win that it causes mistakes.

In addition to that, I wonder if those misses have affected his confidence in a small way?

Like I said, things aren't going right for us at the moment, you can almost predict what is going to happen. There seems to be a lack of belief throughout the team and management, and confidence is at rock bottom.

Bob...Patterson won 23 headers on Sunday...the most in the Premier since 2003.
No one seems to be the Keegan to his Toshack.

And despite that Ward is fantastic in the air

Zohore is just so static that nobody runs onto it. If we play Paterson we need to play Reid/Ward with him
