Think that might be in part to Ireland being aware this team will create next to nothing, so are happy to just sit back and rough us up if we start anything threatening.

1-0 loss written all over this. Just like last year at the CCS.

We’re still missing something and I can’t quite put my finger on what. Maybe with Ampadu coming back we might have a bit more bite

Great win at a tough place without our 2 star men

Thank god for Thomas’ sake we didn’t concede there as he would have been shot of confidence and probably ridiculed.

Massive credit must go to Hennessy - he does make the odd mistake but gives his defence confidence. Rarely gets plaudits he deserves.

Nice win from a much more physical team than us.

Brooks going to be hell of a player

Sad we couldn’t give a few of the young subs a run out but obvious choice to put some experience in at a time we needed to close the game out.

    Well done Wales

You'll never win anything with kids!

Those first 45 minutes could be very important for the future of Welsh football, seeing if the youngsters would sink or swim. They held their nerve, and will only get better from here on in.

We could have won that by three or four but even so that second half was impressive. We are blessed with youngsters that can score fabulous goals. My ratings tonight fwiw.

Hennessey 7 Important early save and rock solid throughout
    Roberts 6 Solid
Williams 6 Struggled to win headers but overall fine
    Chester 7 Strong performance
Davies 7 Showed his class throughout
Smith 7 Shaky start but really improved
Allen 8 MoTM. Linked up the play superbly and won several tackles
Lawrence 5 Poor free kicks and too selfish at times
Wilson 7 Scored a fabulous goal and grew in confidence
Brooks 6 Was targetted by the Irish but still lively
Roberts 7 I thought he was terrific. He holds the ball well and showed some nice touches.

Giggs 8 Got the selection spot on.

First game in 10 years without both Bale and Ramsey, missing Ampadu too and we come back from a Wales away with 3 points. Massive credit to Allen, Chester, Williams, Hennessey but I was also really impressed with Smith and Brooks. Really important set of minutes for the other youngsters so good experience for us overall.

Massive confidence boost. Now let's pack out CCS for game against Denmark and win the group.

We will have a full house at the CCS next month. It will be a proper atmosphere and way better than at The Principality. Really looking forward to it.

Yup. A draw would have been okay but to win is huge.

Could have been so different had Hennessy not pulled off that great save after young Smith's booboo.
In fact we looked a little shaky at times passing at the back but, in fairness, Ireland were awful.

All set up nicely for a big night in Cardiff against the Danes.
