To put today’s result in perspective there’s in article in The Times saying exactly the above.
So far this season in 40 matches between the top six clubs and the rest of the premiership they have won 34 drawn 3 and lost only 3.
Take out Man Utd poor early season form who are responsible for two of the defeats and one draw ,and the results would be even more one sided.
Their 1-1 draw with Wolves is the only time in 19 fixtures that one of the top six clubs has dropped so much as a point to a club outside the elite.
Just goes to enforce the view that now we have five out of the six elite clubs out of the way ,our season is only just beginning.
Onwards and upwards.

The longer it goes on, the worse the gap gets
of course Leicester proved a few years ago, we can have teams break through and compete with the big boys
However, that doesn't mean that the top 6 are getting better and better. I think the rest of the Premier League is getting worse. The gap between bottom of the Premier League and top of the Championship has been narrowing for a few years now. Relegated teams don't do so well, while more promoted sides are surviving.
Nonsense. Are you really saying, presuming this thread is about big six financially speaking and therefore current sixth side in merit are actually seventh, that Bournemouth wouldn't walk the championship? They have now comprehensively beaten the second and third best championship sides of last year.
What is happening is that investment is increasing in the championship so you have four or five sides spending on premier league players or even champions League players whereas we are a side that cannot do that while in premier league. In one off games I'd probably back top 6 of championship over bottom 6 of premier league (how does form and confidence impact this hypothetical?) but 14th in premier league could easily be a Leicester who still have a core of very, very good players.
