Tradesman tool theft - Campaign to make the law stronger

Just listening to a plumber on BBC 5 Live who's campaigning for the punishment for tool theft to be more severe than a £60 fine and is petitioning the government.

He said that some tools he has belonged to his Grandfather (So probably British made) and are irreplaceable. Also, he his van broken into on an afternoon when he was working.

Tradesmen's vans are a tool as well and when some scroat breaks into them they do a lot of damage meaning that the van sometimes is off the road.

    He's on Twitter: https://twitter.com/pbplumber

    Petition: https://t.co/ydVFCjvmo0

Couple of problems. 1. getting the police to investigate. 2. getting the court to convict. 3. getting the criminal to pay the £60.

I had my vans broken into many years ago, took all my kit, everything

at the time ELU was the tradesman brand, i had the complete set of ELU powertools

I also had a Estwing hammer i had purchased from the US, back then before the internet, it was hard to buy tools from the US, i ordered it from a " trade magazine " , anyways, this hammer was rare as fook in the UK, it was too heavy for most UK chippies, anyways, i found it for sale up the colcot ( in Barry ) i went mad, the guy went in his house and locked the door, i was raging, kicked the back door in and battered him, The police had the cheek to question me about it i found all my tools in this guys " shed " i got used my council radio to get them to call the police, he said he had found them down the road, no charges, i was not happy

Only scum nick a mans tools, just scum
