Thread: A new laughing stock contender

    A new laughing stock contender

Wayne Rooney brought back by England for a meaningless friendly against USA. What a joke.

It's all these bloody meaningless friendlies which mean we have even more weekends without the bluebirds playing.

I have no problem with it. Nice gesture.

Raising money for his charity isn’t it? I don’t see too much wrong with it tbh.

I see it as a blatant attempt by the English FA to sell tickets for a meaningless friendly by adding Rooneys "charity" to the title. With all the cash he's earned over the years why doesn't he make the contribution himself, rather than asking England football fans to fund his project.
If I was a Premier League manager I wouldn't want to let my players disappear to play in a testimonial match mid season. And all Southgate rhetoric about blooding youngsters only to have Rooney thrust back on him to sell some tickets. Frankly I couldn't give a toss as a Welsh fan, but Rooneys lot won bugger all and yet nothing similar was done for their 1966 "heroes".

Not quite sure what you mean by even more weekends without the Bluebirds playing because of bloody meaningless friendlies. I thought the international calendar dates were pretty constant over the years and the UEFA Nations League was meant to make these dates more rather than less meaningless.

I wish England every miss fortune but think this is a good thing and I would like to think Wales would do the same for let's say Bale in the same situation
