    Anti biotics

How worried should people be about the warnings of over use? Surely doctors should be held partly responsible for handing them out willy nilly (whoever he is?)

Drs in this country have been far more sparing than in some others. Primarily due to the way the health service is funded, as overuse will directly hurt the NHS in the long run, unlike for private practices.

In France you have to pay to see a GP, so people expect to leave with something for their money, which is usually in the form of a fistful of antibiotics.

But far outwaying overuse by Drs, millions of cattle, especially in America are fed antibiotics every day, as someone found that it makes them grow slightly faster. This then finds its way into streams and rivers.

It’s also that they’re then in the food chain.
In a lot of countries they’re available otc and people self prescribe without knowing whether they are suitable.

I watched an interesting programme a while back about a dr who wanted to get people off certain meds (pain killers, antidepressants etc...) and one of the episodes was about over prescribing of ABs. He found that patients often pressured GPs into prescribing them irrespective of whether they were indicated or not.

They are like getting blood out of a stone at my doctors, have been for about 10 years

I have had a nasty chest infection and respiratory tracts infection for the last 2 and 1/2 months, went to docs after 1 month of feeling rough and not being able to breath, imagine my surprise when she said " oh i will give you some Antibiotics " they didnt work, so went back after 2 weeks and got stronger ones, aswell as a chest x-ray, after being s.prised about this, she said " Oh the last lot you had was 2 and a 1/2 years ago, i think we can give you some again "

normally blood from a stone though

Parliamentary arithmetic doesn’t change, even if they drop our Teresa.

Also, thought we would only be faced with binary choice- Chequers or no deal. Where did no Brexit come from?

We were accustomed to no deal being preferable to a bad deal. The tectonic plates now changed, so that any deal apparently better than no deal.

    Discuss?

"No brexit" is clearly just to scare hardline brexiteers into supporting chequers.

Any deal pretty much is better than no deal, in terms of financial impact on the country,

    This thread is about antibiotics

There is a Brexit thread already. Use that.

This topic is too.important for the thread to be sidelined by something else.
