This was a shocker. Very much a band of my youth. Sad news.

I know some will say you shouldn't be affected by the death of people you haven't even met but I have to say I am devastated. A bit of my youth has just been ripped away.
He wrote and performed some of the most timeless, perfect songs ever recorded. He also helped create DIY record publishing with Spiral Scratch. I saw him several time back in the day and have also seen him a few times in recent years when he's taken and more back seat role in favour of Steve Diggle. But Shelley was always the heart of Buzzcocks for me.
    Bollocks.

I thought punk and new wave was great because it blew away the pomposity and self indulgence that typified the music scene in the first half of the seventies. However, although I liked the Buzzcocks, I never thought of them as one of my favourites from the genre and yet, I can also say that this news has affected me more than I would have thought it would do.

    RIP

Homosapien in particular is a perfect bit of 80s electro-pop. Shelley started off on electronic music before punk happened.

R.I.P Pete, The Buzzcocks, a band from my youth. You were always head and shoulders over most of the first generation of punk bands. Loved your lyrics and your wit. Orgasm Addict is the dogs bollux
