    Plastics following City

Liverpool justed scored. A roar went up in the casino.
The other week it was Man U same thing.

Shocking. Winds me up. It’s when they call them “we” and “us” that really tips me over the edge.

Maybe they had a bet on,? I had a huge silent cheer when Arsenal scored today.😁

Maybe they were city fans pleased that Fulham were losing

I was guilty of letting off a big cheer in the Napier a while ago during the United Chelsea game, for a corner on a bet... lots of confused faces.

But that's the point in the 'casino'. Proper football fans watch their team play in person, whether Leyton Orient, Liverpool, or City. It's a bit like saying you went out for a slap up meal but in reality just watched Masterchef..

Overheard a conversation on the bus from Llanrumney yesterday before the game.
Two guys were city fans but haven’t attended a game in 5 years but regularly go to Wales games because the atmosphere is better apparently.

Some of these can be converted.

I know plenty who have - and had an Arsenal fan with me yesterday, who’s on his way to conversion.

He’s thoroughly enjoyed the City games he’s been to this year and would have bought a season ticket if he could have got one near us.

We should welcome these people and let them feel part of something which is becoming very special

Its a difficult one, I felt bitter at the start of the season seeing so many more fans in and around the stadium, than during the Trollope /Slade era , which was very tough.

Then you realise it's because of our success and we need them going forward.

I suppose there not real plastics , if they have bought tickets and were sitting in yesterdays weather.

I do know though work Liverpool , Utd fans born and bread Cardiff residents and the doint know our first ,eleven , or bothered by our results as they just watch these sides onntye television without leaving the house ,in my view they are the real plastics .

Most City fans have a second big club side due to the fact they love football and its history , and will of course cheer them on . I can only hope they don't let that second club support effect their loyalty to the City , when we lock horns with those big famous clubs .

    My sentiments exactly 👍

    Re: Plastics following City

The reason there are so many "plastic" fans in Cardiff is because of our lack of success over the last few decades (although many of our current younger fans will be too young to remember some of the bad old days). If these "plastics" are now coming into the fold, then that can only be a good thing. They will (hopefully) encourage their kids to support City rather than a team that has no connection to them.

I've always found it strange that someone would support a team that they have no connection to, City was my local team when I was a kid, my family had always been City fans, so City was/ is the only club side I have ever supported.

If we can hold onto our success, then we should start to get those "plastics" back into the fold.

You’ve got to let it go. Don’t make it hostile for them.

Whilst those people might be lost causes (they’re already indoctrinated because of the recent history of both clubs) they’ll probably bring their kids being the future supporters. It takes long long growth for a ‘true’ fan.

I don’t think Man Utd or Liverpool have the same fan stranglehold that they did a decade ago personally but that might just be me not paying attention to those fans. I’d rather chat football with a Swansea fan than an armchair Man Utd supporter.
