So you’re showing your mates around pubs but not having a drink?

    Re: not drinking alcohol

It is possible to have a non-alcoholic drink in a pub I think?

Bit pointless. Like going to a brothel then just paying to have a chat.

That might prove quite a challenge

However, if you DO manage not to buckle, things will get easier. Every time you feel like having some alcohol, you'll remind yourself of what you endured that day and it'll just make you more resolute.

    Good luck!

Of course it's possible, but from experience.. it's a tad boring! After a while your friends will be on a different level to you.

into day 4, diet lemonade last night. had planned the brewery quarter, old arcade, elevens...……… before the game and then similar after before the game home via chippy alley. seriously need to shed some weight for health reasons but it's not easy especially as I'm coming down with my Friday night drinking buddies. too many good beers down there. Am I allowed a respite day?

Surely most people go 4 days without a drink in an average week. By the way, I haven't eaten since breakfast.

    Yes

I’m doing the same, want to lose weight for health reasons too, so cutting down on the booze, better diet and exercise.

It doesn’t help it’s the mother in laws 60th tomorrow so I will be having have a three course meal and a few beers so early into the new regime.

However, I think the reason I always fail to keep up with any new health kick is because I try and go from one extreme to the other instantly. Gym every day, plain chicken and veg every day to the point that I hate both and they become chores within 2/3 weeks.

This time I will allow break myself in at a slower pace and allow the odd cheat day. Hopefully that will see me make a better fist of it than my previous 20 odd attempts.

As the years go by I find this a lot less entertaining and almost irritating when it's not me slurring and talking crap.

No wonder so many pubs are closing. The rise in unemployment rests squarely with people like you. You'll be posting on here next about how you use the self check out at Harrods.

Of course you are. If it's just for weight loss, one day won't kill you. Having said that, I'd avoid the diet drinks if I were you, unless you know there's zero calories.

    Some do, lots don't.

I have a bottle of red every day and a bit more on the weekend.

I'm stopping for Jan and hopefully longer.

Mates 40th birthday party on Saturday and I can't see it being an issue.

Good lord. I feel guilty if I drink more than two or three evenings a week.
