Thread: If w can't get a striker in we will go with what we got

If w can't get a striker in we will go with what we got

A quote from Warnock, with Madine going does this mean we are just about to sign a striker? looks that way to me, as I do not think Madine would be on his way if that was not the case!

Or Pilkington can be brought in to the 25?

Looks like Pilkington is on his way out!

    Let me fill you in...
We've already missed out on Clyne (presumably wages again).

Neil may sign another Madine on deadline day. That's about it.

Reckon in some weird backward way, the only chance we have of staying up is by signing frees and loans, players who we'll all moan about, and resign ourselves to relegation. We start spending, given Neil's record of it too, and we're destined to have a documentary on us about how some 16 million pound striker failed to score more than 3 goals in 4 seasons whilst destroying our wage budget subsequently leading to our downfall down the football leagues.

Ok, a bit overdramatic, but I don't trust Neil to spend at all. A couple loans will do. We'll be fine.

Even if we matched whatever Bournemouth were offering Liverpool, Clyne would have good reason to choose them over us.

We need to outbid these clubs not match them, money talks.
But we're not going to outbid them so prepare for relegation. Tan really needs to decide if he wants premier league football or not I suppose.

They're more established in the Premier League and they're not involved in a relegation battle.

I'm thinking that a deal was done with the £19M they paid for the L'pool striker

Spot on , let's not spend on crap , Pilks is not a bad choice as a back up , and unlucky in my view not to make the 25 . He's a trier with skill, always puts an effort in ,and he did the Brizzies.

You've missed out the word 'down' after 'go' in the thread title...

Clyne was NEVER going to come to City. He's probably on £100k/wk at Liverpool and we don't pay over £30k/wk.

I have seen £70k pw reported in several places - including this:

    https://sillyseason.com/salary/liver...alaries-69073/

I don't know whether these reports are reliable at all or pure speculation - but £70k sounds likely.

If Bournemouth are willing to pay most or all of that, and Cardiff are not, there is only one outcome - regardless of which club is more attractive to Clyne or whether the Solanki move (crazy price - £19m - when Palace walked away from a much cheaper deal because of his fitness) was part of it.
