Never mind the leg pulling, Tom singing "never gonna fall in love" was just superb

How Lonnie Donagan’s son, never broke down in tears, well I just don’t know !!!!

What a wonderful TRIBUTE to his dad .
Who would have known that Lonnie wrote that song for Sir Tom

    Wonderful television

At 8PM yesterday there were 2 choices in our house. Either watch Cheryl Cole in some dancing programme or the Voice. We watched the Voice and I thought it was great TV especially the Lonnie Donegan son's thing with Tom Jones. The first guy from Aberdare was also good as was the final singer. Not watched the programme before but will certainly watch again.

I watched the dancing programme on the beeb.
The premise is that the audience vote and if the dancer receives a vote from at least 75% they go through.
A professional ballet dancer failed to get enough votes, but Cheryl Tweedy's biggest stalker (who's engaged to be married, but isn't camp or gay in the slightest) and cannot dance, did get through.
Made a mockery of the shows title really.

Incidentally, Jennifer Hudson was completely outsung by the contestant.

Do you have the American "Voice" too? I've never watched any of that stuff, I'm not into reality TV. But I've seen an advert for the latest contest, it's called "The Mystery Singer" or something similar. Famous people dress up in ridiculous costumes and sing and a panel of B or C list celebrities people have to guess who it is. WTF?

There is usually a huge amount of artifice going on in respect of so-called reality TV, talent shows and the like. If you swallowed all that stuff on The Voice whole you are probably very naive.

No, I never watched it, and never will. It's just a glorifed karoake programme. However, a friend sent me a YouTube link for Tom & Peter Donegan's performance. Top stuff!

It's the best thing he ever did imho.

Here he is singing it on the Dusty Springfield show in 1967:

Fair play in a thread that has ‘Voice’ in its title that is some voice. Tom can sure belt a number out👍

I don’t think he wrote it for Tom, fairly sure he released it himself first. It is my favourite Tom Jones song though, amazing vocal on it.
