Thread: We probably need around 100M in players to comfortably sit mid table

We probably need around 100M in players to comfortably sit mid table

We can buy players to that value or develop players so their value goes up.

Even lowly Huddersfield are 28M ahead of us.

Some of the valuations on that site are an insult to my eyes.

60 million would perhaps make us safer, however if we go down get ready for another Slade cost cutting era.

I think 60M would be fair and once established in the prem the other players value would rise to make up the rest.

Think its hard to purchase in January, unless players are in the last 6 months of their contract.
So much better value in Europe, I see Brentford reportedly want 15 million for Maupay.
    Totally unrealistic.
Just highlights that we should have completed our signings in the summer.

    Ihaenacho £25m (Leicester City) Forward
    Mounie £10m (Huddersfield) Forward
    Seri £30m (Fulham) Midfield
    Sorloth £6m (Palace) Forward
    Vestergaard £20m (Saints) Defender

There's a £100m that has been spunked by other clubs on dross that is now worthless

Iheanacho's market value is the same as when he was bought for 25M.

Mounie's market value has nearly doubled, 5M to 9M.

Seri's market value is the same since Fulham bought him for 27M.

Sorloth's market value has nearly tripled from 1.8M to 5.4M since Palace bought him.

Vestergaard's market value has increased from 12.6M to 18M since Saints bought him.

If we had spent 50M in the summer, I think we'd be comfortable. We should have had a 3-year plan to spend at least 50M each summer and find a long-term manager.

Fulham spent £100m in the summer and they aren't comfortable.

I'm aware of that. I still think 50M would have been enough for us.

Didn't a large chunk of that go on securing their championship team though?

Those players are flops and there is no way on earth (apart from some stupid football manager wannabe site) that anybody would pay anywhere near those values for those players.

Just a quick glance on google against any of those names will see the vitriol and bile attached to those players.
I'm sure they are also pretty good on FIFA but in the real world they cost nearly £100m and in the real world they are sh1t.

I'm sure if we offered £10m for Iheanacho Leicester would sell (I'm sure Leicester supporters would drive him here themselves to use a messageboard favourite) - but he's a very bang average player with a vastly over inflated transfer market value that nobody in their right mind will pay

I guarantee you most of those players will be off loaded in the summer at a fraction of their vastly over priced cost.

Yes. Two more players. Maybe three.

Very easy with hindsight - Fulham could perhaps have spend £50m better than they did and not been in as much trouble

I feel like wages now are so high players are generally worth a lot or next to nothing. If we were to put all our players up for sale tomorrow I don't think we would raise a lot of money at all.

I've always said we don't really have good saleable assets probably get 70 mill, it would certainly be the least in the league and much less than other championship teams.

Hindsight? What I wrote was total speculation.

I have no doubt seri is a class act whether you see that at Fulham is probably unlikely
