Thread: Signing new players - why?

    Signing new players - why?

The obvious reason being to do a better job than the current players or as back up.

Ranieri is reported as saying this week that he needed to sign a ‘leader’ and that alone seems a good reason.

I would argue that Warnock did that by signing Bamba. His presence lifted squad and brought about an improvement in Morrison.

Even so, both Bamba and Morrison might welcome somebody else to take the strain. Arter and Gunnars are big characters too but they might also need a lift.

We need to sign a striker but more importantly we need a striker who will score goals for us. If they do then they become a leader. If not they don’t.

A Midfielder with a great reputation would also be helpful.

Signing players with no pedigree may work if they do a good job but will not lift the players until proven and have a negative effect if they don’t, just as signing a big time Charlie would.

Warnock is right. No new players might be better than the wrong new players.

How the current squad see it is a big factor.

Much as I love Pat, when did he last score?

What's the alternative on Saturday? Peltier as a striker?

I'm not sure the team need a "lift" - they need someone to improve the play.

Isn't Healey an option for Saturday?
