I don't think directly quoting a receptionist from the hotel that David Ibbotson stayed at in Nantes is speculative reporting.

    6am or 6pm??
Maybe just a mis-communication over the time of the wake-up call ?

It was arranged for 7:30am and he changed it paid an extra day went back to his room and got another taxi at 6:00pm. It doesn't look like any confusion.

It's a very bizarre sequence of events though.

I found the whole signing Bizzare and I'm only going on what I read on the forums things like he was going back to play one more game on Sunday with Nantes.

I reckon the flight left at the time it was supposed to leave, the pilot got the am & pm wrong, realised & went back to bed. Sala most probably watched Nantes Sunday game. Didn’t the club have someone waiting at Rhoose in the evening not 10 hours previous?

Pilots don't talk AM/PM, they use the 24 hr clock

Sala thought he was flying back on Monday evening. According to this reported email exchange he wanted around 9 pm. McKay asked if 7 pm was OK and they settled on around 7.30 pm.

Perhaps the hotel receptionist didn’t use the 24 hour clock, got told he was to be reminded to leave at 6, so woke him at 6am. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few folk about who’d look at you blankly if you said give me a call at 18.00.

Pilots may use the 24 hour clock while they are in the air but may not do so while booking hotel rooms. I dont know though.
