You're right, it doesn't mean anything. Odds are decided by bookies and by betting patterns. If punters are flocking to bet on City going down, it effects the odds.

I got better odds on City staying up after the defeat against Bournemouth (1st game of the season) than I could have got at any other point during the season... And, believe me, I checked.
