Thread: The red shirt.

    The red shirt.

I quite liked the red shirt (as a shirt) from our last prem season. Now that that shit’s over, would it be ok to wear it!?

I had the SW Echo red one from the 92/93 season and quite liked some of the red ones until what happened. Will red shirts forever be a sore point?

Why? If you were deliberately being a bellend maybe. But then you would deserve it. And the colour of your shirt would be irrelevant

Football fans tend be mouthy. Wearing that shirt would constitute bellend behaviour initself for some......but ye, I take your point.

I would never suggest what should and should not be worn by other people at any location but I absolutely hated the rebrand with a venom and the sight of such shirts fill me with bad karma. If I were to see one at the ground I would be secretly thinking something of the wearer that I should best keep to myself. Sue me

Seeing people wearing the free red scarf makes me want to consider spending the rest of my days at her majesty's pleasure. Shirts are fine though.

I don’t actually have the shirt btw. In fact, I don’t think I’ll ever see Tan in exactly the same light.

I just need a shirt for five a side, casual wear, and those shirts are going quite cheap.

When and why adults began to wear replica football shirts at matches: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news...tball-15888886

Came across the above article earlier this week. The author claims replica football club shirts were available in children's sizes from the late 1950s and that when adults begun to wear them it was widely perceived to be 'odd' or 'childish'. How times have changed.

Interesting that the article says that the commercialisation coincided neatly with the the birth of the Premier League in 1992. A golden opportunity for the "big" clubs to cash in on the potentially huge number of plastic fans around the country most of whom had/have never been to Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge etc! What a golden opportunity to milk it for all their worth by changing the kit every year too and ensuring that everyone HAS to have the latest design or be seen to be the odd one out.
