Thread: Zinedine Zidane

    Zinedine Zidane

He's a genius. He gets to rewrite his own salary cheque, and he can also set about the tricky task of rebuilding the team as the saviour of Real Madrid. They must have been on their hands and knees begging him to come back.

Why did he leave anyway? Seemed a bit weird at the time, was it just because they were selling Ronnie? You’d think he’d be a bit bigger than to let that bother him....

There was a rumour that Real wouldn't agree to the signing of Hazard. Now that Zidane holds all the cards, he will get whoever he wants. He also has more time to rebuild, as the disintegration of the team happened on somebody else's watch. He knew that the current team were done and he walked at the right time. The maestro has played a blinder.

Yep, with hindsight he’s played it very well.

But it will be interesting as RM and Barca are both about to rebuild - players fees are about to get HUGE!

Matthijs de Ligt should be on somebody's shopping list, probably Real Madrid's, but both teams can usually go out and get any player that they want.

Can anyone point to the game where you can say Zidane's work was the main contributory factor to Real Madrid winning?

    Re: Zinedine Zidane

He left cos Perez was making noises about sacking him cos he was so far behind Barca in the league so he decided to take matter into his own hands before winning his 3rd European cup

It's a difficult one. He didn't seem to be a huge tactician but he always encouraged Madrid to play on the front foot and his team selection was usually spot on.

For example, how has Isco had so little game time this season? What has happened to Asensio and Marcelo?

Funny if true Even funnier is that Perez begged him to come back after finally getting rid of him!

Zidane used tactics that made the most of the players individual strengths, as opposed to somebody like Sarri, who shoehorns players into a specific system. This is something he picked up at Juventus, and he also incorporated their demanding fitness regime.

It certainly helps having world class players in virtually every position

    Re: Zinedine Zidane

One thing is certain, Perez will have to stop being the person who decides which players to buy if they want a quick return to the top. Zidane is describing his return as "the second project", so I assume he has everything mapped out in advance.

They was fortunate on a few occasions in the champions league but you can’t put all those wins down to luck but they was very poor in the league

It's the more likely option, but I was thinking that Real Madrid needed him more. He would be an ideal long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos, who will take some replacing. De Ligt, while still only 19 is one of the best centre backs I have seen. I don't think he has any weaknesses, and he could probably play anywhere on the pitch. He's a bit of a nightmare doing Cruyff turns inside his own penalty area though

Who a strange one , ,realises his Man U job has gone to OGS , can't get into the other big pay day club aka Chelsea , stopped stalking posh end UK restaurants ,with media outlets following, so goes back to stalking French and Spanish cities and conveniently ends up with Madrid , poor old Jose as he was so close as well.

Well done OGS and Sarri for seeing the money grabbing stalker off.

Without the genius of CR7 they are shot ,lol.

The goings on according to BBC correspondent Guillem Balague.

    * Zidane left because he wasn't able to make the changes he wanted (Hazard?)
    * Perez has relinquished control of player aquisitions
    * Bad news for Bale, as he doesnt get on with Zidane
    * Good news for Hazard, as Zidane is now in charge of player aquisitions
    * Ramos had a barny with Perez

Zidane was so good they were 17 points behind Barcelona last season. They would go as far as Ronaldo would take them.
