Especially being that enough of those who voted leave have died of old age and enough young people who it actually will affect for the rest of their lives have come of voting age to completely overturn the result

So they have another referendum and the remainers succeed; what’s stopping the leavers demanding another one to make it best out of three

Nothing - they've been doing that since the 70s

It's too late now, but I believe that when you have a referendum that it should require, at least, 60% support or even better 75%. This would ensure that you really had the will of the people and parliament couldn't protest.

If May calls a general election and Labour wins, the Tories should stay in government for another three years and then call another election.

Which socialist party? The Marxist one under Corbyn or the proposed moderate one under Watson

Either one I’m packing my bags

Let's be honest, any government is better than one with Theresa May and Chris Grayling in it.

Can all the people who are desperate to leave in this thread please tell me why? What do they think the benefits are?

It won’t be less imigration, it won’t be more sovereignty, it won’t be more jobs and certainly less in the poorer areas.

I agree with you on all counts. I suspect we've reached the same conclusion for entirely different reasons, though. Most of mine begin with d -- more debt, more dumbing-down, more decadence, more drugs, more deprivation and all of it by design.

It should just be revoked, the government can then work on a Brexit that is acceptable and then put that forward in another referendum, people can then vote on what they know are the options.

The question in the first referendum was perfectly simple wasnt it - leave or remain. Leave won. Couldn't be much more clear than that. Pity those people who want to remain and have another referendum cant/wont accept it.

    ^^^^ this

    Leave or Remain

Leave won, leavers knew it wouldnt be easy, remain told us ( many times ) we could leave without a deal and we would be doomed, Leavers took that chance

There was an MP on Twitter highlighting the half dozen variations of what Leave meant to the very people who voted to leave. Yeah, they won. But won what? No-one can either explain or agree on how we're going to function after leaving.

    Over 3.5 million signatures.

Highest signed petition was a couple of years ago (again related to Brexit) and that got to just over 4 million.

    Is that what you want?
Why are you talking about something you clearly know nothing about here?

You’ll still be in South Wales whatever the outcome I’d put money on it.

If the remainers win a second referendum, do we get a third as a tie break? Or we could go for best out of five.

JRM backed a second ref, on numerous occasions.

    How is that relevant?

Major Brexiteer advocated a second referendum in the past. He said we could have one to decide if we wanted to try to leave, and then one on the final deal. Suddenly, he's changed his tune. Funny that.

It is relevant because people know what they're voting for, instead of a unicorn that shits rainbows.

The head of the Remain campaign, David Cameron, said that he would act on the results of the referendum and that it would be a once-in-a-generation vote. The government also made exactly the same statement in their pro-Remain referendum propaganda leaflet. I don't think you ought to get bogged down too much on what individuals on either side have said.

Farage said he'd be campaigning for one if there was a few % difference
