WOLVESALONA ... THE LONG BALL MERCHANTS

With a few minutes on my hands this evening I went on the CCFC w/site. Whilst checking on the Wolves away game an interesting fact was found viz the number of long balls played:

    Wolves: 65
    CCFC: 58.

Amazing what you find when you look.

You can go further and say that Wolves have played more long balls than Cardiff this season - 2059 to 1948. There needs to be a little perspective here, though. While Wolves have played 111 more long balls than us this season, they have also managed 4621 more passes in total than us. 16% of Wolves passes go long compared with 23.6% of ours.

This is a table showing each team's long ball percentage.

    Cardiff 23.6%
    Burnley 21.6%
    Newcastle United 20.3%
    Brighton 18.8%
    Watford 16.8%
    Southampton 16.6%
    Huddersfield 16.1%
    Wolverhampton Wanderers 16.0%
    Crystal Palace 14.6%
    Leicester 14.5%
    West Ham 14.4%
    Fulham 14.3%
    Everton 14.3%
    Bournemouth 12.7%
    Manchester United 11.9%
    Tottenham 11.1%
    Arsenal 10.4%
    Liverpool 9.5%
    Chelsea 6.9%
    Manchester City 6.8%

My original post was written somewhat, "tongue in cheek." However what makes interesting reading is goals / shots on target in respect of possession.
