Re: Big Sam's view on the officals

The headset thing on Sky is all well and good if the referee or linesman has the inability to move but they can and should.

If a player is in your way or is taking a corner and has chance to get in the way then simply one step to the side solves it all. Any official with enough experience should at least be able to move to the side to see past a player. The ball was in the air for a few seconds after all.

With real time player and ball tracking you should be able to get a technological solution within a few years which would cut out the Human error significantly.
It'll be the next VAR, you heard it here first

Next logical step is to put the ref in the VAR room, won’t be any need to be on the pitch in future. They will have multiple real time camera angles with which to make their decisions. Linesmen will be redundant as touch/goal kicks /corners/offside will be decided by the computers. An official to manage subs on and off will be all that is needed at the ground.

Additional benefits, no players surrounding the ref to try and gain an advantage.

That's just taking it way too far ....... VAR is only going to be used for:

    *Questionable penalties
    *Questionable Goals
*Foul play (Off the ball incidents)

    Not play in general

I like it. How about a network of ref drones swarming over the pitch, recording every possible angle, and dodging out the way of the ball

Yes, you can have 1 drone per player to keep an eye on the offsides.

Yes for now, but if you put all the officials in the VAR box you are more likely to get all the decisions right with 10 different camera angles and immediate access to replays.

Managers and players can’t abuse the officials, we should get better decisions, everyone wins.
