Re: Anyone work regularly with Excel ?

That’s unbelievably vague, I’m guessing you are looking at a job spec ?

If I had to guess though, and depending on the job, it would include things like pivot tables and charts/graphs. If you could do macros/VBA that would def be considered Good Excel Skills

I agree, although unless there is a test attached, I think excel knowledge can be 'bluffed'. I've learnt quite a lot of non standard excel stuff from you tube.

    What a crap job description

vlookups, and if statements will get the majority of Excel work done. If you can do VBA too then you have it covered.

It's a bollocks generic phrase really. I always read it as meaning as long as you can open the application and sum up a few cells then you're sorted.

True, if they can't be specific then I suspect they know nothing about the app or what they intend to use it for.

If the recruiter uses such a poor job description then then its likely that the other responses sum things up, however if you are looking for work in a field that relies on data, building models with "Power Pivot" and "Get Data" is where its at, info here .

Learning how to work with these tools will also give you transferable skills for Power BI which is rapidly becoming industry standard due to the agressive pricing of MS.

I have used Excel for 30 years and done some interesting and what I consider to be complex stuff with it.
On a scale of 10 re using all its attributes I,d give myself 4.
I would question what is meant by good as I believe most people wouldn’t be able to define it.
In short the answer is “yes”

Good relates to the expectation of the employer to meet their needs.

What sort of job are you after?
