Today we're launching a fresh appeal to find Mohammed Ali Ege, who is wanted in connection with the 2010 murder of 17-year-old Aamir Siddiqi in Cardiff.

Aamir was murdered at his home in Ninian Road, Roath, nine years ago: April 11, 2010.

Ege fled abroad and, on April 12, 2017, he escaped from police custody in India. We're working with the National Crime Agency and international law enforcement to trace Ege and return him to the UK.

Ege, now 41, is from the Riverside area of Cardiff but also has connections with people in surrounding areas.

He fled to India before he could be arrested, and escaped from custody in India while awaiting extradition. His current whereabouts are unknown, but he is thought to have visited Aghapura, Hyderabad.

He has travelled, changed his appearance and has access to false ID.

Documents recovered when he was arrested in India were of a high quality and would have been costly, indicating he has financial support, possibly from within South Wales.

DCI Paul Giess said:
“Nine years have passed since Aamir’s tragic death. I would urge anyone who may have had previous allegiances with Ege and felt unable to assist us at the time to do the right thing and tell us what they know.”
“We believe that the answer to Ege’s whereabouts lie within the Cardiff area and we appeal to anyone who has any information about his location or who may know anyone associated with him to come forward for the sake of Aamir’s family.”

Aamir's parents said:
“We will never forget how so many people in Cardiff and beyond were touched by Aamir's death. We urge anyone who has any information that could help the police with their enquiries, to please get in touch.”
