Not sure there’s a lot in this, When asked about playing for England he says;
"I want to be called up. I want to play. I'm massively patriotic," Hughes said in an interview in The Times.
After saying that, but of a cop out of he did ever play for Wales.
He also says his grandparents are “part Welsh” - that’s not enough, grandparents need to be fully Welsh, and him part Welsh, to be eligible.
Grandparents are part-Welsh could mean that just one of them is, why would you bring up another country if you weren't interested in playing for them?
Its probably a warning for the English FA, "pick me or I'll play for Wales", I expect he'll be in the next England squad
Oh gawd, don't rattle Grangetown Blue's cage.....
From a purely football point of view he’d be a great addition.
But I think it would be a bit of a piss take.
New hate figure for Grangetown Blue incoming.
Call him up, cap him and make him captain just for the bants.
He's got the same colour as me so I'm willing to adopt him.
Someone should do an investigation of the Eire squad under Jack Charlton
Just like that other famous Welshman Emlyn Hughes!
- He doesn't qualify.
- He doesn't want to qualify because he feels passionate about his nationality of a different country.
Why would we want to talk about calling him up?
