So he was born in 1964, but played in the 1958 World Cup

Someone probably edited the wiki page, you can't always trust it.

Nope, I just put “PELE” in and it came up “Pele, Brazilian footballer”

I saw the guy you're talking about earlier but I thought it couldn't be him. He scored a lot of goals yeah but all in the Brazilian or US league

It changed my opinion! I never realised Maradona was so good when directly compared to other great players. He's gone up a few notches on my list.

However, if you look at the moves, style of play, tight ball control, passing ability and shooting of his (and Ronaldinho's) idol, Rivelinho, you will see a lot of what Maradona did, had been done before.

For a Brazilian to be an Argentinian's idol, especially Maradona's, he had to be something beyond special and he was!!

Check him out and let us know what you think.
Rivelinho was a brilliant player from the old guard, and I can see how his style of his play would have influenced a later generation of players. I never realised he was Italian, that's a new one on me. However, it took the likes Cryuff and Maradona to bring us into the modern era IMO. Football became more dynamic, and they were at the forefront with their compete set of tools.
