What about our 1927 Treble? The Welsh Cup, FA Cup and Charity Shield.

How about winning promotion to the top flight in 1920/21 during the club's first season in the Football League? Or finishing fourth in the First Division in 1921/22? Or finishing runners-up in the First Division in 1923/24? Or finishing runners-up in the FA Cup in 1925? Or winning the FA Cup in 1927? Or reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners Cup in 1968? Or beating Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners Cup while a Second Division side in 1971? Or finishing runners-up in the FA Cup as a Championship club in 2007?

Personally, I reckon those achievements trump avoiding relegation from the Premier League after being promoted from the Championship - something the likes of Swansea City, Hull City, QPR, Bournemouth, Burnley, Brighton and Huddersfield have all managed in recent years.
So you agree it would be the best achievement in the league since 1924 then?

FA cup was 2008. An amazing achievement. However we beat Chasetown, Hereford, wolves, Middlesbrough and Barnsley to do it.

That's why I changed it to.say best league season as its difficult to compare 5 or 6 cup games to a full season.

    Not at all.

    Since then, the club's top-flight finishes include 11th (1925), 16th (1926), 14th (1927), 6th (1928), 12th (1953), 10th (1954) and 15th (1961).

Assuming they finish 17th or 18th, this season will rank as City's best in terms of league rankings since 1961. However, whether that can be classified as the club's best achievement since then is open for debate. What's certain is that avoiding relegation won't be the club's greatest-ever achievement - not by a long chalk.
