Re: Thread Re. Dalman’s pre-match comments

“I think we should have planned much, much more ahead than we have done. That’s something we have learned”.

Fair play to Dalman for being honest with the fans but that admission is truly astonishing. That was planning for promotion to the wealthiest league in world football, what on earth were they thinking?

He served as a Managing Director at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Capital Markets Limited, and Head of Japanese Equities and Equity Derivatives for Asia Pacific. I think he was the main person behind the scenes who arranged the Manchester United sale to the Glazers from Magnier and McM**** about 15 years ago. He almost sold the club to Colonel Gadaffi - but that fell through.

He's a financier, businessman, deal-maker, experienced chairman and figure of calm and authority. Useful to have in his role with the club. He wouldn't know a 15 goal a season striker though if he fell over one!

(The '****' above should read 'a nus' with no gaps!)
And still we managed to almost go bust. Twice? Wow. Still not sure what his job is..

And regarding A Nus. Ill put one in yours any time JonJon

I think we should keep in mind what NW said about staying but helping to look for a replacement around the turn of the year. i think that is fairly easy to grasp.
As for a director of football, i cannot see Neil wanting that role at all. I prefer that he find his replacement and they have a nice transition during the second half of the season if such a thing is ever possible in football. I don't think I've ever heard of it but it might be good if it could happen. someone mentioned Bellamy?? Is it a possibility? He is on record as saying he has learned a great deal about management from working close to NW, and if you add that to his own football drive and his insistence on skill and fitness it may just work.

Thing is , Neil Warnock is obviously a great man manager but does anyone think he’s in the know enough to recommend , for example, a young portuguese, german, french or italian manager who’s been getting success and approaching the game in an innovative way for a reserve team or a second division club in their respective leagues?

I think that if his recruitment is anything to go by he’d recommend an upcoming british manager whose approach is somewhat similar to his own. This wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing but if it is the case, as with players, you are immediately reducing the pool from which you can choose and maybe missing out on better options.

The board should have advisors in the EU and South America who can give them a variety of candidates, as well as Warnock’s input.

God leave these people alone, it wasnt long ago folk were praising them for turning the club around ,giving it back to the fans , got a promotion out of the blue.

The manager is 70 , has gone through hell this season with transfer collapses, the dreadful death of a Sala ,nearly kept us up with a threadbare team .

Yes were disappointed going down ,but lets do this respectfully,
    FFS.

It’s good that you stick up for people but you can’t use the Sala thing every time someone says something against the club. The conversation got back to football a few months back now and the comments Dalman made refer to incompetence that pre dates the Sala tragedy. So, I suggest you have a listen to the interview and comment on what was said and address the topic at hand.

Oh I know, lets get some real football men in and see how that goes.Sam Hamman,Peter Ridsdale? The game is littered with club clubs that have suffered under real football types.

So you’re saying we shouldn’t have people in control of the club than have an idea about the game ? Or that you’d prefer to have someone who specialises in finance despite the fact they will make mistakes in the running of the football team ?

The questions posed are valid. Why is this fella running the day to day decisions affecting on-the-pitch issues when he/they are clearly novices. I have no fecking idea how to run a club but even I think I’d have the presence of mind to think in January 2018 when we were towards the top of the championship that we should start putting in provisional approaches to the types of players we’d be interested in signing were we to go up. I find incredible that none of Choo, Dalman or Warnock felt it relevant to entertain the idea of a promotion plan.

It bugs me because had we done the basics we would have started the season with a stronger squad (a striker and right back at least) and there’s every chance it would have made the difference between going down and staying up. It’s regrettable and disappointing , that’s all.

While they may relatively still be novices they have been here 5+ years now and things are running now more smoothly than, well name any date really. I think we have to recognise that in December we had lost 4 games on the trot and were perhaps looking to manage resources best we could between chances of dropping into play-offs and staying ahead of the pack. Things are not perfect and Dalman may or may not be a conman but we are stronger off-off-the-field than we have been since perhaps Malky's first season, although recognising that there is much work to be done.

Re: Thread Re. Dalman’s pre-match comments

I dont know if Dalman is a conman. But if he is the man running things, he also mapped out budgets. Signed contracts and put the club where it was. I don’t know how Malky did Anything or Shamster Slade did. But I know Ole never negotiate anything.

Since Tan came in Cardiff City has been a fortress of paranoia. It was absolutely crazy at the end of Malkys reign and Oles. There might be a smother operation now, or more control as you can put it.. But there is still a fortress of paranoia. Dalman is probably there protecting is investment, which he can’t afford to loose, and there is nothing Tan can do about that. Ken Choo is there becouse Tan dosent trust anyone. So basically, there isn’t room for any football people beside a DOF.

I wonder how Tan will react to both the Mackay’s and Warnock putting his sons player in the shop window at Fulham. At least he has said something about play like that before..

Listening to that piece gringo put up on Ajax. They have key personnel in every department. People who know what they are doing. We have none. Not even a mananger...

Yes, I know the riddler and scam Where worse.
But it really needs a new dynamic at the top of Cardiff, dosent it? Just a thought.
