Thread: Cyril the Swan

    Cyril the Swan

I attended the disabled fans forum at Swansea City last night as one of the young lads I support is a Jack. The events are pretty good in all fairness in terms of inclusion etc.

We were told by the representatives of Swansea that Cyril won't be at the Liberty next season due to 'ongoing financial restraints'.

I asked if things really were that bad down there and I was told that there are "very tough times ahead".

Pretty poor if even their mascot if facing the axe. You'd think that someone could do it on a voluntary basis? Doesn't matter what club you support, I think everyone will agree that football mascots bring a lot of joy to little'uns and others.

Perhaps Alan Tate could suit up.

Leon Brittain could join him in and be Cyril jnr the cygnet.

I don't think they meant to say that they'll be sacking Cyril ..... It's that bad down there I've heard they'll be making him part of the playing squad

Surely just send one of the reserves out in it, already paying them to do nothing on match day.

It's about time our bluebird had a full costume again - did Tan throw it out during our red phase?

it looks ridiculous as it is - just a head, glove "wings" and something that's supposed to look like a tail.

A mate of mine from my time living in Staffordshire Son is Cardiffs mascot, he's in Uni in Cardiff and works with the youth set up there and in Newport. He's a Baggies fan!

It's Romanians, and your comment is extremely offensive. If meant as a "joke" it was in very poor taste.

I’m sure he’ll return to apologise to the Romanians who frequent the board.

Why dont we buy the costume ,then burn it as an effigy .

On a serious note it sums up football really well , paying players thousands a week and getting rid of someone on a minimum wage ,cleaners next ,then purge ticket office ,sad decks.

It's not as though it has to be the same person every week

Quite right too, poor bugger should be with his mates swimming around Captain Scott’s lighthouse not having the embarrassment of swanning around a football pitch. He’s missed out on all the divorced dads out with their kids on the weekend chucking half a loaf a bread in, very cruel.

When will people realise no one gets offended at stuff like this and it isn’t about offence.

Making outdated jokes like this makes it look like the person thinks a group of people is worth less than the rest of us. All it does is make the teller look out of touch.

It’s never nice when something like this happens. Obviously I want Swansea to be doing worse than Cardiff on the field but I don’t want to see them struggling financially so badly that local people are losing their jobs.

As the Jacks like the Union Flag so much, maybe they ought to appeal to their Queen for help, being as she owns all the swans in Great Britain

What you talking about they follow Wales when they play well....I’m sure a few went to France. They laugh about us helping them out with buckets a few years back aswell as laughing at our plight a few years back so fug them....

Agreed, I have family from Romania, you'd never meet a nicer group of people.

Apparently I need to get a F cking life because Jeffries thinks it's funny to stigmatise them as being.. Well God knows what he "thinks"

Bob Bank Spanker thinks it's ok though because Romanians don't read this board! Go on then mate stereotype an african.
