Got a new one this month Huawei P30.
The fact the battery last two days makes it the best phone I’ve owned in 7 years.

In 12 months the Chinese will have an android system of their own. Donald has done them a favour

I don't trust the Chinese at all. In fact, I search through my Chow Mein everfy week to make sure there are no listening devices in it.

Huawei actually pay for the uk government’s testing of every product used in the uk- there are basically full time employees paid for. Y Huawei as part of gchq that test their equipment.

They seem to have money to burn, and are in a constant recruitment drive. Despite the pay there is no way I’d work there and there is no way I’d buy a Huawei phone, even though they are very good.

Which is ironic as they'll probably pinch everyone else's copyrighted ideas to do it-just imagine,a chinese browser.Google will be effed.

Last 3 phones I've had have been Xiaomi, which have been great, but you do wonder if they start making a dent in western markets they'll face similar accusations.

I think protectionism plays a big part of this.

I'm sure there will be some simple software workarounds available very shortly in any case

They’ll just end up using the free open source version of Android. biggest issue for them is if they lose access to the Android store, but there are plenty of ways around that for them.

Have one, it's a fine phone, does everything I need and more without paying ridiculous money on it.

They can spy on me anyway, they would soon get bored of porn, video games and football.

    Go into apps
    Find Google
    Turn off microphone
Just in case the local Chinese are listening

I don't think I would get bored of that

They do more secret stuff behind people’s back while they are watching porn than anything else.
This is because the porn attention span of a typical user is greater than any other phone usage.
It gives them time to gather whatever they are looking for.
Porn is GCHQs most useful tool. Fact.

Surely that is not how surveillance works.

Malware downloaded through porn sites - yes. Though probably not from GCHQ.

Waiting around until you watch porn because your attention is elsewhere (even though any snooping is done in the background without your knowledge)? Not quite so convinced.

I finally succumbed last month to the smartphone craze by purchasing a Chinese one (Umidigi A3 Pro for £97 at eBay - it's massive but beautifully designed) that someone at a forum who seemed to know his onions said was the cheapest and best he'd ever owned. I did so purely for mobile internet data to tether at home as speed achieved through the phone line is and always has been utter shite.

The next day I read a lengthy article which claimed the reason modern smartphones increasingly have a non-removable battery is because the only way to be sure spooks and hackers can't eavesdrop and the device isn't saving and transmitting location data is by removing the battery. Sure enough, the Umidigi came with a non-removable battery. Grr.

That is not the reason mobile phone manufacturers are all switching to built in batteries.

It'll all be ok by the end of your contract. Trump trying to protect his Apple Shares. I am about to get a new phone and will go Huawei purely to stick two fingers up at Trump.

It's the android store I'm more concerned about, the phone will always work irrespective how it pans out, I've done all the custom rom stuff with previous phones don't Particularly want to start dicking around with that stuff again TBH, too late this evening I'll ring virgin tomorrow to get their opinion of flogging me a phone that will not possibly be able to provide the features promised in the not too distant future, great camera and excellent concert recording video and sound TBF.

    Re: WaWee Phones

    I've got one it's a cracking phone.
    Processing speed is impressive.
    Internet connection excellent.
    Camera is wow.
Apparently many of its main components are made in the USA so fun times ahead.
I'm guessing this will be over soon , as soon as the Trump calms himself, or wins his latest spat.
