Average league positions over the last decade

Thought I'd work out each team's average league position over the last decade. Only criteria is that teams must have spent the entire decade within the Football League/Premier League. Finishing positions within the league pyramid are calculated, so winner of the Championship would finish in 21st position, 12th in League 2 would be in 80th etc.

Here's the table with average positions. We're in 22nd overall.

    1 Manchester City 2.3
    2 Chelsea 3.5
    3 Manchester United 3.6
    4 Arsenal 3.9
    5 Tottenham Hotspur 4.1
    6 Liverpool 5.4
    7 Everton 7.8
    8 West Ham United 13.6
    9 Newcastle United 14.1
    10 Stoke City 14.6
    11 West Bromwich Albion 14.9
    12 Swansea City 16.5
    13 Leicester City 17.6
    14 Aston Villa 18
    15 Southampton 19.5
    16 Fulham 20.5
    17 Burnley 21
    18 Sunderland 21.3
    19 Crystal Palace 21.6
    20 Norwich City 23.3

    37. There have been 49 teams take part in the Premier League since it's inception in 1993. Of those 49, Oldham, Swindon, Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Wimbledon, Coventry, Bradford, Ipswich, Leeds scum, Charlton and Derby have not taken part over the last decade. It's perhaps funny that we describe Forest as a big club, yet it's been 22 years since they were last in the top flight. Since our promotion to this level in 2003, we have finished above them every season bar 2009/10, when they finished 3rd (and we both lost out to Blackpool in the playoffs).

Only 3 sides have spent just one season in the PL - Swindon, Barnsley and Blackpool. All other PL participants have had 2 or more seasons, whether it be consecutive or several solitary seasons.

The last 5 Premier League newbies are Swansea, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Brighton and Huddersfield. Including next season, that'll mean only 5 clubs that are new to the PL in 9 years. The only Championship sides yet to compete in the PL are Brentford, Wurzels, Luton, Millwall and Preston. 6 sides in League 1 are former PL sides (Blackpool, Bolton, Coventry, Ipswich, Portsmouth and Sunderland), with 3 now in League 2 (Bradford, Oldham and Swindon). I've classed Wimbledon as a defunct club, not MK Dons.

It may be interesting to note that Norwich, Southampton, Brighton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Wolves have all played League 1 football over the last 10 years yet have since been promoted to the PL. Bournemouth were a League 2 team 10 seasons ago. 33 of the 49 Premier League teams have played in League 1 either before or after their PL stint.
