Brilliant news but as license payers questions should be asked why cricket has disappeared from terrestrial tv there is clearly enough money by the wages they pay individuals

Some might say they are too busy ticking boxes of political correctness to worry about what it is they are actually employed to do, transmit what the people want to watch.

Giles Clarke saw the money and sold it's soul down the river, although Sky's coverage is exceptional.

Was bit nervy at the start, but an absolutely brutal batting performance. That Smith over to Roy might be my highlight of the year!

Jason Roy's batting is fantastic to watch. Such a clean hitter, he really is box office. Disappointed by his reaction when he was given out, as ok he didn't hit it. But I don't recall him being a walker, and no doubt he's got away with nicking a few to the keeper in the past. You have to take the rough with the smooth.

Can't wait for Sunday and hopefully an England victory.

SKY simply bid more money for the rights.

BBC may pay relatively big money for individuals like Gary Lineker, however what they pay him is peanuts compared to what SKY pay their pundits, and this is reflected in the fact that bbc allow Lineker to go of and do some punditry for BT and over channels to cover his earnings loss.

Cricket as not a massive sport is living in a battle between selling their rights to the highest bidder and investing that money into the grass roots of the sport, or by having more exposure on terrestrial tv and getting more people actually interested n the game.

Sky pay £1.1bn for the cricket alone. That's quite a bit more than Gary Lineker's salary.

All the overseas tours were on Sky before, nobody showed them on TV so that won't ever change! I'd like to see a deal where C4, BBC, ITV get all the t20s and maybe the first tests of the year vs the lesser nations, before an India, Australia, SA come over. Sky get their numbers for the big tests while the game gets some proper exposure.

We would all like to see as much sport on tv as possible, however SKY always blows terrestrial tv out of the water. SKY want exclusive access, and pay heavily for that privilege.

SKY do not really get big numbers for cricket with them attracting less than 400,000 for some big matches, to put that into context that is less than championship games attract on sky, and similar to movie repeats on ITV3.

Its not about attracting people to cricket with SKY, it is about not letting others have it

Sky need the cricket and PL football for their business model to work. If they didn't, thousands would cancel their Sky for the summer months. Giles Clarke only cared about one thing, his wallet.

I do have some sympathy with the ECB over this matter. Because the ECB do invest in the grass roots. If you are involved in local cricket you will find it relatively easy to gain access to money to improve facilities. Then you have the money that is invested into teh All Stars Cricket and Chance to shine programes aimed directly at school aged children (It would be interesting to know how many cricket interested people on here have even heard of these initiatives).

Cricket Wales are as active in schools and clubs than any time within my lifetime, and they can employ a dedicated staff to do this, all this needs money, that money comes from the ECB and the ECB get their money from SKY.

The flip side is, that these initiatives are needed because the public do not see cricket, its an alien concept to them. We have parents saying to us i dont know if my child will like cricket, i dont know what cricket is, or im not interested.
