Have I got this right - you'll never beat the establishment

Thatcher government in trouble in the 80s. Let's go to war over the Falklands. Keeps a socialist government out of No. 10.

More Tory troubles in the late 80s. Let's go to war over the Gulf. Major beats Kinnock in 1992.

A centre-right politician becomes Labour leader. Labour now supported by some of the media, elected 3 times. Leader stands down, a less right-leaning leader takes over. National debt soars after bailing out the banks, yet in the run up to the 2010 general election, debt blamed on immigrants, public sector overspending and benefit cheats. No mention of bank bailouts as the real reason for the debt.

Labour appoint a socialist leader. Press savage him completely.

Tory government approach the EU for a veto to EU tax dodging legislation. EU says no. Government says referendum. All planned years in advance. Keep telling people that immigration and the EU are the reason the UK is shit.

Brexit, necessary for tax dodging continuance, looks under threat. Arron Banks bankrolls a new political party. Tory members happy to destroy economy and own party to deliver Brexit. Help from America. Farage wants only Brexit supporters in the civil service. Johnson wants to make sure US ambassador is okeyed by Trump.

Austerity becomes akin to the war effort, everyone pulling together, except that the most wealthy become even wealthier while average working people become worse off. Council spending is slashed by Westminster but people blame councillor wages for declining council services.

It's all about the establishment keeping its ill-gotten gains and keeping a thumb on normal working people in the UK that it brainwashes so many gullible fools. All this new fangled nonsense about Farage and the Brexit party people being "for the people", they are the establishment and make Hitler look democratic.

You'll never beat the establishment, but you might be able to replace it.

See, at one time I was definitely an establishment figure, but now I'm considered quite the opposite.
I haven't changed though you see - the establishment has. Let's hope it can change again.

Thank god the Iranians are a peace loving nation that has no interest in any ones business or country .

They could have let poor old Joss Stone sing on her own , shes no Tory ,just a single free female 9 at least she avoided being jailed ).

With regards to the establishment , whoever that is , I'm sure theirs some horrors about , we have fairly decent society , a better economy than a lot of others , could do more in social care and other key areas .

I can remember it being much worse through those alleged times , when my mam struggled to feed and cloth me as a child ,with no wage earning dad , real tough times , someone fought to improve or provide through that era .

As to your question I'm not sure If the establishment did anything , are we on our knees as a country ?? , as a child I felt it was very tough not knowing if we could afford to the heating on .

You had heating ??? very posh , my early years were spent in Curtis road Ely, knowing that all those who lived around you were basically of the same social standing (we all had fack all, except a roof, hope, community & spirit) was a leveller, and before my parents managed to blag the house in Ely we lived in rooms in my mums sisters house in a street off City road. It was when I went to St Illtyds that the GAP caught the eye, we had moved to Rumney by then, St Illtyds served the council estates of Rumney, Llanrumney, Trowbridge, Llanishen, Splott and Tremorfa but also was home to the private De La Salle church skool, not sure what the rich kids made of mingling in with us social outcasts
