Thread: England win the world cup

    England win the world cup

!ENGLAND ENGLAND ENGLAND! But no mention of Wales 🤔
All you cocksuckers who support the "ENGLISH CRICKET TEAM" shame on you. Scotland, Ireland have their own cricket teams, yet we are supposed to cheer on England? I'd rather us get tonked every game playing as Wales under the welsh dragon, than support an English federation, that treat our country as nothing more than a token gesture. And before any ponce brings up Cardiff playing in the English pyramid...since when have this land Been English? This is Britain, and Wales Scotland, northern Ireland, have every right to play in a league involving Britain. England are the outsiders, not us. DISCUSS!!

Great idea but funding for Glamorgan is a big enough struggle.
This Rugby nation of ours don't even turn up for club games.
If Wales took the funding Glamorgan would surely disapear.
    Thoughts on that ?

I'm drunk because why? Ireland and Scotland have their own cricket team, so why can't we? What are you afraid of? Why has Wales constantly gotta be the little let of England?

I don't agree with your wording of it but I do find it baffling that Welsh people are going along with this. I commented in a cricket thread that a west-country cricket pundit had questioned whether West-Country cricket fans would support a team called Wales/Glamorgan in the 100 ball tournament if it wasn't going to publicise that it actually represented the West-Country too, and that I couldn't see any reason that Welsh cricketer's aren't doing so on a national level. We even had one poster on here wanting to get rid of national anthems before the game (something which is part of Welsh history) so they could feel more comfortable supporting a side that almost totally refuses to mention they represent Wales?!?!

#weareengland trending again today shows you all you need to know. If you want to support the team then at least start vocalising the need for greater representation of the W part of the ECWB. Wales deserves that at least.

Re: England win the world cup

It'd the "England and Wales "cricket board that put out the team commonly refered to as "England"
    Not that we're ever mentioned.

I only watch cricket when I've run out of paint to watch drying, anyway.

They only won it on a technicality, anyway.

I wanted he saes to lose.

Completely agree that Wales should have its own cricket team. I'd rather us be hopeless and represented than tagged onto and hidden away from those *****.

Don't understand how people can pick and chose when they want England to lose at different sports.

Re: England win the world cup

England win the world cup thanks to a player from Barbados, a player from New Zealand, whilst being captained by an Irishman.... I suppose that actually is the only way they could win a CWC...all whilst refusing to acknowledge one of the countries they supposedly represent. The Welsh people cheering them on today I am SURE are also the same ones who would actively boo their football and rugby teams. Why get behind a team that refuses to acknowledge our existence?

Fantastic game of cricket however, Trent Boult is going to be having nightmares about those final overs for some time.

Farcical to decide a World Cup in a 6 ball shoot out.

Do it over 5 overs, or wickets lost or whatever but however exciting it was to watch it’s just not the right way to decide a tournament.

It’s as bad as a World Cup/ FA Cup/ Championship play off etc being decided over a penalty shoot out.

There you have it. 99% of the people complaining about the name of the cricket team aren't cricket fans at all.
If the vast majority of Welsh cricket fans are fine with it, then why seek to get their knickers in a twist over what is essentially just a name.
You can't just impose the rivalries from other sports onto this one, it's just the way it has always been in cricket.

Didn't even get settled by the 6 balls

    That's too much sense there.

Romantically it would be nice to have a Welsh cricket team .

The reality of playing and being beaten a lot and not able to fund our national team would not be attractive .

Anyway I enjoy watching and supporting the English and Welsh cricket team and have done for many years, may it long continue .

    So enjoyed today .

I'm not sure its just a romantic pipe dream. I bet Glamorgan CC are happy with the current set up, I guess they get funds from the ECB??? If Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands etc can run a team I'm sure Wales can. Without checking I bet we have more cricket clubs than any of those nations.

I'd rather support a team representing my country and lose regularly (like the national football team) than a team which represents England.

Wales does have a cricket team;-

    https://www.espn.co.uk/cricket/table...s-championship

they finished in the same position in 2017 and 2016 and currently occupy the same position this year.

Re: England win the world cup

My proudest sporting moment was making my debut for Wales against the MCC. Seeing the Welsh Dragon flying above the ground each day for me was emotional. And if I'd been any good, to play for England would have been the pinnacle. As Robert Croft said. Playing for Glamorgan is representing Wales, playing for England is becoming a British Lion.
