    Mehmet staying put

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48613804

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has abandoned his takeover bid to buy Championship rivals Charlton Athletic.

The deal would have seen Dalman leave the Cardiff City Stadium and the role he has held since June 2013.

It is understood he held talks with Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet who has been keen to sell since 2017.

A potential agreement has looked unlikely for some time but BBC Sport Wales has learned negotiations have now ceased completely.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock will be pleased the uncertainty has been removed as he has frequently paid tribute to the close working relationship he has with Dalman.

Charlton were promoted to the Championship via the play-offs, while Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League.

    This is excellent news.

But he's got a taste for it... I'm sure it won't be long before he tries another club.

Good news and good for the stability of the club. There seems to be little enough football knowledge at strategic management level at the club. Losing MD would have created a vacancy that would have been difficult to fill.
