In my head I’d thought that Warnock had signed a glut of strikers when he was at Sheffield United... so did a bit of research to jog my memory. There were probably more but this list had some pretty good players in it (at least at some stage in their careers)

What happened Neil? Why can’t you pick a few for us?

Teams always played with 2 strikers, but rarely do anymore, so thats why there was probably more back in the day.

I also think everyone looks back with rose tinted glasses, not just football but music, your youth.etc and think everything else was better in the olden days.

They are now wingers or nos 10's.

I do think there a less strikers of note .

Also I think defences and keepers have made life a whole
lot harder tactically for strikers to progress in the modern game .
