I'd rather a player with some pace and controlled aggression who can have a real influence on a game rather than Arter, who is on the slide.

I agree on the type of player. I'm not sure Tomlin has the discipline to be that player. But I'd give him a chance.
Warnock should hooked Murphy at half time and replaced him with Valks.Would have given us parity in midfield and protected the back 4 better.Can't blame Ralls and Bacuna,they were just overrun and outnumbered today.
All ignoring the fact the midfield 2 had absolutely no help from Murphy ( awful), NML ( in and out) and Reid - ( inconspicuous)
Would have had a better balance with Hoillet out there
Plus Madine’s awful hold up play and total lack of any threat whatsoever
That's a biggy, if the ball is coming back all of the time then it's difficult for the central midfield to set themselves, although i don't think that Ralls has a quick enough mind to anticipate and put himself in those positions where he can be affective, i can't really have an opinion on Bacuna as i've not seen enough of him. We need some aggression and pace in the middle, someone who is willing to get on the ball and link up play, and another with good anticipation. It's all to slow and predictable at times.

Game was lost before before it started. Warnock's 4231 formation was never going to work with Ralls and Bacuna too weak and yards and yards of space infront of Peltier and Bennett which Wigan's wingers exploited at will. Madine was ineffective and there was little threat until Bogle came on.
