She's just a front, a gimmick, in an age where such things have a willing and gullible audience - though judging by what I've seen, it's not that big..
Why are you so angry about this? My politics come from a side that would be sympathetic to her, but, for now, I'm more interested in the human reactions she provokes - I find it astonishing.

Why does it matter who her parents are or that they've previously enjoyed travel by plane? Why does it matter who she is at all? What should matter is that we have more scientific research than ever and everything is saying we have to take drastic action now otherwise irregular and extreme weather will become more and more frequent. Personally I cannot see anything wrong with getting lamb from the UK rather than New Zealand and travelling to Europe via train rather than plane...but I guess it's easier to shout at her on a messageboard than to take several small actions start/keep living in a more sustainable way.

Ah yes, the last argument of someone who knows they're wrong and have no other arguments - the old "but although she's doing this good thing, not everything she and her family have ever done have been good, so this good thing doesn't count" argument.

It's the equivalent of attacking someone who gives to a charity because they don't give to every charity in the world.

Your anger at her is fascinating though, like TOBW has said. People's reactions to having a 16 year old girl be the forefront of a movement is exposing their character in a totally unpredictable way. Some people respect her, some follow her, some ignore her, some like you and Aaron Banks are aggressively against her.

Do you think it's normal to be that strongly against a 16 year old girl who's just pointing out that we should probably try and not wreck the planet? Or do you think there's something about you which brings that out?

The amount of anger is the shocking thing, there’s no mild disagreement or constructive points being made just people attacking a 16 year old girl.

The same people seem happy for old men to tell us what to do though.

Look she's being exploited. She is a child. It's shameful.
    Just my opinion.

So you don’t know if she’s being exploited then? You were calling her bonkers a couple of pages ago, why would you call her that if you were worried about her being exploited?

Look up bonkers in a proper dictionary.
Or maybe you are an urban dictionary type.

    bonkers
    /ˈbɒŋkəz/
    Learn to pronounce
    adjectiveINFORMAL•BRITISH
    adjective: bonkers
    mad; crazy.
    "you're stark raving bonkers!"
We know what you meant mate, at least try and stick by it.

People seem to be using the stupidest reasons to attack her but she’s in all the news and is massively raising awareness of this. Who cares if a tiny amount of carbon is produced if this raises enough awareness where it matters.

Perhaps our children can finally be children again, when the rest of us grow the hell up."
No finer example of this than the mess that is Brexit.

"Dad, lots of people could lose their jobs in the event of a no-deal Brexit"
"Never mind. You youngsters have it far too easy nowadays, we wouldn't have won the war with defeatists like you, time you showed some fighting spirit. Believe in our future and everything will be fine"

All said by people who also never fought in a war

Not sure if people just get more miserable if they get older or jealous of kids but it’s nuts saying stuff like this. See the A level thread on here. People complaining A level maths is too easy while not being able to spell or use a comma correctly

This kid was bullied because she took it upon herself to pick up and recycle rubbish she saw walking home from school. Kids are not stupid they can see what’s happening in the world and don’t need to be “exploited” to make these points, they already know it themselves.

    “Trash girl” picked up rubbish.

This other girl has more means to go about it in a different way, so what?

She is being commercially exploited to make a point for older folks views.

And use her to call for civil disobedience is not a good learning point for a child.
