One other thing to consider is that it looks increasingly likely that we are close to the end of the climate change denial game. Just like with big tobacco there is a limited period where the 'evidence is inconclusive, it's a myth, our own studies show etc.' excuses work. With tobacco it was when people saw their own families dying of cancer that they abandoned that line . With climate we are actually seeing the changes now (Australia in permanent drought, artic melting, weird summers etc) and public tolerance of denial seems to be shifting with things like Extinction Rebellion and this topic.

To borrow a phrase that Warnock could have written himself: what do you do when you aren't good enough to play the ball? You try to play the player instead.

Absolutely beutifull piece 👌i apologize for misspelling turquoise! It hangs there with a beautiful telecaster end a few skateboards. And some signed art. Of course it is being used.

But but back to the point. **** me there are some idiots on here.. The point is not what I make. That is irrelevant. But the logic why you make so little. That is obvious. 🙈 Another glacier disappeared this week. **** the idiots trying to change the world, ehh.. Jesus..

You are actually right, the point isn’t what you earn as nobody really cares (what anyone earns not just you) but what the “idiots” were taking the piss out of was the fact you were online bragging.

People earn little wages for a number of reasons, but I’ll agree that some of it has to do with not wanting to work hard/go after better. There are a lot of lazy people about who won’t put effort into it and just stick with what they’ve got.

Who on here would accept a global government as a means to control global warming/climate change?

There has to be a better way.

Having Europeans make rules we have to live by is bad enough

You really don’t see your problem at all, do you? Ever read “captive state” by Monbiot? You see, Britain has allowed foreign investment for some time. Even my country own one of the best areas I London. Foreign banking own your road projects. Down town London is only foreign, because British citizens can’t afford housing starting at 700k.
And you think Polish people out and Brexit will fix that? If so, your market would collapse, and you will be even poorer.. But brexit will never happen, because you have nothing to trade. Sorry mate, you are stuck in the larger community with common rules.. Even us, who are not members have to abide by them because of trade deals. The problem again isn’t within the Eu. The larger population is Asians, who really dosent have the means to do anything as single people, and their countries economics really on exports.
Welcome to the world mate 🤗

Didn’t vote on Brexit and avoid news regarding it like the plague. Wasn’t aware me saying I don’t want a global government because I want our own making rules for the county was even close to needing a brexit reply... but there you are.

Happy for anyone worker of any nationality to stay in the country.

There you are.. It dosent work that way. We have never been in the Eu, and still have to obey to EU rules for trade. And there you are. The ocean is more plastics than fish, and glaciers are melting. If ever to fix this, 2000 countries protecting their so called interest and reaching some sort of agreement. That’s when you get idiots like Trump saying global warming dosent exists, because I dosent fit the economy. Grab em by the pussy.

Why did you chose this post to reply to (where I wasn’t talking to you) but avoid a direct reply from me. Is it because I agreed with you and you couldn’t get an argument out of that one?

Don’t complain people call you an arsehole then run around acting like one.

You do? Lets Get a global fair trade commerce vote started pronto then! And leave the child alone.
It’s the only way to fix things. Through commercial agreements. Or war. But we rule that out for now..

Never complain about that. In fact, i rely on it.

"Yet however her parents choose to deal with this, the broader problem she highlighted remains. A society that cannot bear to be lectured by its children, even when they’ve got a point, while the adults are behaving like spoiled toddlers refusing to clean up their own mess, is one that can never progress. Perhaps our children can finally be children again, when the rest of us grow the hell up."

Ah, yes, The Guardian. Get a more balanced slice of journalism from other places - including The Times -and you'll find her groupies are flying on ahead and they and some of the crew will be flying back. Don't worry thought -they're certainly not, because they've 'offset their emissions'. Probably by paying some poor farmer in Equador to plant a couple of hundred saplings for 50 pesos. They're all wealthy millionaires, her parents have spent their acting/opera careers flying tens of thousands of miles, and now expect us to spend our holidays in Skegness or Le Touquet. She's just a front, a gimmick, in an age where such things have a willing and gullible audience - though judging by what I've seen, it's not that big..

Why are you so angry about this? My politics come from a side that would be sympathetic to her, but, for now, I'm more interested in the human reactions she provokes - I find it astonishing.

Why does it matter who her parents are or that they've previously enjoyed travel by plane? Why does it matter who she is at all? What should matter is that we have more scientific research than ever and everything is saying we have to take drastic action now otherwise irregular and extreme weather will become more and more frequent. Personally I cannot see anything wrong with getting lamb from the UK rather than New Zealand and travelling to Europe via train rather than plane...but I guess it's easier to shout at her on a messageboard than to take several small actions start/keep living in a more sustainable way.

Ah yes, the last argument of someone who knows they're wrong and have no other arguments - the old "but although she's doing this good thing, not everything she and her family have ever done have been good, so this good thing doesn't count" argument.

It's the equivalent of attacking someone who gives to a charity because they don't give to every charity in the world.

Your anger at her is fascinating though, like TOBW has said. People's reactions to having a 16 year old girl be the forefront of a movement is exposing their character in a totally unpredictable way. Some people respect her, some follow her, some ignore her, some like you and Aaron Banks are aggressively against her.

Do you think it's normal to be that strongly against a 16 year old girl who's just pointing out that we should probably try and not wreck the planet? Or do you think there's something about you which brings that out?

No finer example of this than the mess that is Brexit.

"Dad, lots of people could lose their jobs in the event of a no-deal Brexit"
"Never mind. You youngsters have it far too easy nowadays, we wouldn't have won the war with defeatists like you, time you showed some fighting spirit. Believe in our future and everything will be fine"

She is pretty much becalmed at the moment going backwards.
Might be a 4 week voyage.

Fair play to her. I'd rather go to football.
