Thread: Best band you've never seen?

  1. #1

    Best band you've never seen?

    For me its Pink Floyd.
I had a ticket for Earls Court 1994 but couldn't make it so passed it on to a mate who wasn't having the best of times.
Biggest disappointment for me was Happy Mondays (Glastonbury 90) who at the time were my favourite band.
Who would you most like to see?

Re: Best band you've never seen?

I read this thread as the best band you've EVER seen - so I won't change my contribution now as not many will have had the privilege of seeing my nomination - The Beatles, who else?

Would have been '62 or '63, Capitol in Cardiff. Totally surreal, best seats in the house and couldn't hear thing; bedlam from start to finish. Roy Orbison topped the bill and the Stones were a supporting act. Obviously they weren't the best band at the time but their legacy has stood the test of time. Anyone of my age will say the same.

Don't know the Smiths, but I used to work for a bloke in Crawley some years back whose name was Smith, and his son was Robert Smith of the Cure.

They played in the office canteen for us one Christmas.

Ooops. I misread read the title. I thought it was the best band you've EVER seen. I actually missed Gentle Giant at the Top Rank (?) in Bristol once. They were brilliant, too. I also would have loved to have seen Keith Tippett's 50 strong avant-garde jazz orchestra Centipede.

That’s ironic, I went to that pink floyd gig at Earl’s Court in 1994.
I’ve somehow missed the chilli peppers, even when they played in Cardiff I was abroad.....

I had a ticket to see B.B. at the Ally Pally in 1980 but it was cancelled due the place burning down. Never managed to catch up with him subsequently.

Saw a great band last night "The Ultimate Classic Rock Show" an excellent gig very professional and superb guitarists, in fact the drummer and keyboard were very good as well, well worth going to see, if you get the chance, they are playing all over south and west wales at the moment!
